Basic MTB Skills Course for Coaches
August 1 @ 1:15 pm - 5:30 pmFree
For 2020, we are again offering a series of ride leading and basic mountain biking skills clinics. This date is reserved for current and potential MiSCA Coaches and is required for all adults planning to teach mountain bike skills to riders (level 3 coaches). You must have completed the Ride Leadering course prior to attending this clinic. They are typically offered on the same day with the Ride Leading course occurring in the morning.
Learn basic mountain bike skills for safe ride leading and practices. This course covers riding positions, shifting, braking, cornering, timing and pressure control, and pre-ride bike checks so that participants can ride efficiently and safely. MiSCA strives to maintain a modern, consistent level of skill among all MiSCA coaches so they can model safe and current riding technique.
Certifications offered by other organizations such as BICP, NICA, PMBI, or Sprockids will fulfill this requirement. Register for courses and submit your certificates in your SportsSignUp Play MiSCA Annual Registration.
This course will be facilitated by Chris Jensen (MiSCA Education Program Manager and BICP Level 2 Instructor, Sarah Vano (MiSCA Race Operations & Registration Manager and BICP Level 1 Instructor, and Mike Kearney (MiSCA Board Member, Assistant Race Director, and Level 3 Coach).
